Fold 'em and fly 'em

Look. Up in the sky.

It's a bird. It's a...a really big paper airplane.

This Saturday, the Okanagan Science Centre will be launching some of the biggest paper airplanes ever made.

At 2 p.m. at the Polson Park Oval, OSC outreach coordinator Lucas Newman will show how it's done by sending a giant folded piece of paper into the air.

The idea for this event grew from the paper airplane sitting on Newman’s desk.

“I wonder how big an airplane I could actually make?” Newman thought. “We all know how much fun it is to make and fly paper airplanes and it’s something the whole family can participate in.”

Kids can join the Giant Paper Airplane Launch & Fold'n'Fly contest and make their own paper airplanes.

All materials will be provided and prizes will be awarded for distance, time aloft and most decorative.

Bring along a bathing suit and towel and play in the spray park afterwards or experience the flight simulator and explore the science centre.

The Giant Paper Airplane Launch & Fold'n'Fly competition are a free family event.

Regular fees apply for admittance to the science centre.
