Cadets learn pickleball

It only makes sense that cadets attending the Vernon Training Centre this summer take part in local sporting customs.

There were 120 cadets on the Vernon Pickleball Association courts at Marshall Fields last week taking swings and learning the sport in real time with members of the association.

It was part of their Basic Fitness and Sports Course, said VPA's Anne Longley.

The Vernon Cadet Training Centre hosts youths aged 12 to 18 from all across Canada for two, three and six-week courses.

The Basic Fitness and Sports course is part of their training where they learn to play a variety of sports to enhance their knowledge about physical fitness. After the basic course, some cadets can go on to take a Fitness and Sports Instructor Course at Albert Head Cadet Training Centre in Metchosin, B.C.
