Time served for threats

A Vernon man has been sentenced to time served and probation after pleading guilty to an assault charge.

John Munter was sentenced in a Vernon court Monday following the guilty plea.

According to Alisia Adams, with the BC Prosecution Service, Munter was sentenced to time served, with credit for eight days for pre-sentence custody, plus an 18-month probation order for one count of assault with a weapon and two counts of uttering threats.

Adams said Munter was also sentenced to time served, with credit for six days, on two counts of breach of recognizance.

The charges stem from an incident on Boxing Day, 2018.

However, Munter's legal woes are not over as he is facing charges of uttering threats and causing a disturbance in relation to an incident at Kal Beach June 14.

He is scheduled to stand trial on those charges Oct. 16.
