It might be the worst-kept secret in Vernon commercial real estate, but a Government of Canada spokesperson confirmed the Service Canada office is moving to the newly renovated building on 30th Avenue.
"The centre will be moving from the current 3202 31st St. location and opening at its new location at Unit 1-3301 30th Ave.," said Isabelle Maheu, media relations officer for the Government of Canada.
The planned move date is mid-August 2019 and there will be no disruptions in service, Maheu said.
The building was commonly known as the Bargain Shop building or the Liquidation World building. Originally a Woolworths department store, the building has undergone several changes, but since the Bargain Shop closed several years ago, the building sat vacant.
The space is being transformed into six separate commercial units, and the renovated building is scheduled to open in August.
