Swastika painted over

A swastika painted near the Armstrong skateboard park didn't last long.

Lars Larson, with the Armstrong parks and recreation department, said as soon as officials found out about the Nazi symbol, it was quickly painted over.

“Some of the stuff we allow up there because it is just youths expressing themselves, but other stuff we do not and we got rid of that right off the bat,” he said. “It was unfortunate, but it is gone.”

The swastika was universally condemned on the Armstrong Community Forum.

While they found it unacceptable, some said perhaps a youth painted it without fully realizing the meaning behind it and the atrocities associated with the symbol.
