They stole his freedom

It was much more than a bike for Maurice Strong: it was his legs.

Strong had his three-wheeled bike stolen from his home on Alexis Park Drive and it is his only way for him to get around.

Several years ago, Strong suffered a head injury relegating him to a wheelchair.

He is unable to drive, and the bright-yellow bike offered Strong a freedom of movement he could not find any other way.

Strong would tow his wheelchair behind the bike - that has two wheels in the front and one in the rear – all over town and beyond.

He even rode to Idaho to go on a camping trip, and losing his bike is a devastating blow.

The thief stole not only his bike, but his freedom.

Strong has contacted police about the theft that happened early Monday morning.

Strong said he is relying on friends to get around and the loss of his bike has been a huge loss in his life.

“It's not just a bike. I can't walk so the trike is my only way around,” said Strong. “How would you feel if someone took your legs?”

Strong is hoping someone will spot the unique bike and contact police.

Friends of Strong's have made a post on the Vernon and Area Community page where there are more pictures of his bike.
