That's a wrap on carnival

The 59th edition of Vernon Winter Carnival drew to a close on Sunday, wrapping up 10 days of mid-winter fun activities.

More than 110 runners braved -14 C temperatures to take part in the Kal Rats 10K run on Sunday morning.

Sherman "Tank" Doucette left the stage and got up close with his fans at the 10th Annual Winter Carnival Blues Festival.

The fire pit was one of the only warm places in Polson Park on Saturday for Family Fun Day festivities. Guests were treated to s'mores, hot chocolate, smokies, bouncy castles , broomball, and a display from the Allan Brookes Centre.

More than 50 hearty souls braved chilly temperatures to take part in the annual Polar Bear Swim at Kal Beach on Sunday morning. Because the lake had frozen over, a channel had to be cut to permit the bathers to brave the icy waters.
