Light show will live on

The North Okanagan's most popular Christmas light shows will live on.

The Voila Dancing Christmas Lights on Pleasant Valley Road attracted hundreds of people each year, but it became a victim of its own success with the increased traffic flow disrupting the neighbourhood.

Last December, Suzanne Robert, owner of the home and Voila Hair Studio and Spa, told Castanet 2018 was likely the last year for the show that featured more than 4,000 lights choreographed to music.

"Sadly, some have not been very happy with our display and it has inconvenienced some of our neighbours and so we've decided that it's time to pass the torch on," Robert said.

The display is moving to Historic O'Keefe Ranch.

Four 5x8 storage containers are loaded and ready to head the ranch 10 minutes from Vernon on Highway 97.

“O’Keefe Ranch has the space for our light display to grow and accommodate the amount of people that want to see it; we just wanted it to stay a part of our community” said Robert.

O’Keefe Ranch will be opening the light display as a fundraiser next December as a walk through display complete with the dancing lights that became a Christmas favourite for so many.

“We are so excited for the opportunity to offer this to our community and are grateful to Mark and Suzanne who will stay a part of the design and development of the  Christmas display,” said Anita Kuipers, events and volunteer co-ordinator at O’Keefe Ranch.

O’Keefe Ranch is looking for donations of quality used lights and artificial Christmas trees to grow the display.

Elephant Storage has donated temporary storage of the Christmas lights until O’Keefe Ranch can find a more permanent storage solution that will house the whole display all in one place.

Anyone interested in making a donation or sponsoring the exciting event can call the ranch at 250-542-7868.
