Ski now, beer later

What's better than a cold beer after a day on the slopes?

A day on the slopes with a brand new set of skis.

Five beer drinkers throughout the region will be carving the pow on a new pair of Vernon-made Skevik Ski Co. skis as part of an Okanagan Spring Brewery.

The skis, made specifically for Okanagan Springs, are adorned with a Geoff Holman photo featuring the Falcon and Cliff Chairlifts at Big White, as well as brewery branding to mesh with their seasonal beer, Last Chair Red Lager.

“There are so many things to like about this collaboration,” said Glenn Anderson, co-owner of Vernon-based Skevik Ski Co. “Local beer, local skis and local photography. Ultimately, we wanted to create a graphic that locals would be stoked to win.”

Playful taglines such as “Please ski and drink responsibly” and “Ok Spring; OK Skiing” among others were also used on the ski’s top sheet.

Following a re-brand at Okanagan Springs last year, the collaboration ties in well with the company’s Okanagan roots.

“Our new packaging features images captured from the Okanagan and this partnership with Skevik is another exciting way we’re working to bring the spirit of the Okanagan to life, throughout our home province,” said Daniel Carranza, OSB trade marketing manager.

“We were thrilled at the opportunity to partner with another local company that is dedicated to creating quality products. Especially one that enjoys skiing as much as we do! We’re excited to share the collaboration skis with a few lucky winners.”

The contest is currently available at the following liquor stores throughout the next few months:

  • Silver Star Liquor (Vernon)
  • Vernon Square Liquor (Vernon)
  • Mission Liquor (Kelowna)
  • Big White Liquor Store (Big White)
  • Sundance Liquor Store (Sun Peaks)
