$70K for VJH campaign

It was a slow start for the annual Light A Bulb Campaign in Vernon but things are picking up.

So far, the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation has raised $197,000 towards their $275,000 goal.

This is due to a flood of donations that had been held up in the mail and a generous donation of $70,000 from the Armstrong Spallumcheen Healthcare Auxiliary.

“We are grateful for the ongoing support of the Armstrong Spallumcheen Healthcare Auxiliary. This group of dedicated, hardworking volunteers makes such a huge difference," said Lisa Westermark, executive director, Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation. “Their $70,000 gift really helped bring us closer to reaching our fundraising target and our goal of helping people to get their surgeries more quickly.”

Other local organizations who have contributed to the Light A Bulb Campaign include Corner Optical, PJ DeVries Construction, and Beta Sigma Phi Vernon.

But there is still $78,000 left to go and the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation needs the communities help.

This campaign will provide VJH surgeons with the equipment needed to perform more surgeries, ultimately reducing wait times and improving patient outcomes so our loved ones can get on the road to recovery much sooner.

Help light the tree on top of the hospital. Each $35 tax-deductible gift will light one bulb on the tree of lights; $500 will light an entire string.

Every gift, great or small, brings the VJH Foundations closer to raising $275,000 for critical equipment at the hospital.

To donate go online, send to VJH Foundation, 2101–32nd Street, Vernon B.C. V1T 5L2 or call 250-558-1362.
