Two events sell out quickly

UPDATE 2:34 p.m.

As expected, the popular Vernon Winter Carnival Suds 'N' Cider event sold out quickly when tickets went on sale Friday morning.

But Vicki Proulx, carnival executive director, said for the first time a second event sold out on opening day.

Along with Suds 'N' Cider, Unwind tickets were also quickly snatched up.

“It's been crazy. We have two official sold out events. Ticket sales have been awesome. Parka Party is selling well so I wouldn't wait to get those tickets,” said Proulx, adding people started lining up before 7 a.m.

“Last year, we didn't have two events sell out on the first day. I think we are probably on track to do a bit more on tickets sales this year.”

Proulx said Suds 'N' Cider sales were not available online this year, but still sold out quickly.

It's as much a tradition as carnival itself: people lining up in the freezing cold to get tickets to the most popular events.

The Vernon Winter Carnival takes place Feb. 1-10 and tickets went on sale Friday morning and as usual, people were lined up before the carnival office even opened.

The theme for this year is a Pirate's Carnival.
