Cannabis and mental health

Head on over to Vernon's Okanagan College tonight and learn about how cannabis can be associated with mental health.

The speaker, Zach Walsh, associate professor, UBC Department of Psychology, will present recent research on cannabis use and mental health and will explore the potential of cannabis to serve as a substitute for other psychoactive substances and how cannabis substitution might impact public health.

“There is so much we don’t know about the use of medicinal plants,” said Dr. Walsh. “Refining medicines derived from cannabis and other plants will have a dramatic effect on the health of Canadians and people worldwide."

"How do we make the best use of these plants and combine them with other therapies to create better outcomes for people who are suffering?”

Beyond prohibition: A new look at cannabis, mental health & public health is $10 per person and will take place at the lecture hall from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

This is part of the Signature Speaker Series that takes place throughout the year.
