Have skis, will swap

For 50 years the Vernon Ski Club has been helping people hit the slopes.

Once again the club put on the annual ski swap where thousands of people bought ski and snowboard gear.

James Phair, with the club, said the swap is a good way for people save a lot of money on new-to-them equipment, allowing them to enjoy what winter has to offer.

“It's a very important fundraiser for the Vernon Ski Club,” said Phair. “Like any other kids activity out there, we like to subsidize it somewhat and its a way to promote the club and deflect some of the costs of annual ski racing dues.”

The ski swap was held in the Vernon recreation complex, and while the doors did not open until 8:30 a.m., people started lining up at 7 a.m.

“The lineup went from the door out into the parking lot,” said Phair.
