Beaten with a golf club

A brutal attack between two men near Vernon Saturday morning started with a verbal argument but escalated quickly.

Notorious gangster, Jody York, 43 allegedly beat the victim unconscious with a golf club, according to a Vancouver Sun article written by Kim Bolan.

That's when the victim's friend jumped in and cut York with a machete to protect his friend from a further beating.

Both York and the victim ended up at a local hospital which York was later released from.

The unnamed victim remains in hospital with a serious injury.

York was released from custody on $2,000 Monday and was charged with one count of aggravated assault.

One man is still in hospital after a vicious attack at Monte Lake by a well-known gangster.

The attack involved a machete and a golf club.

On Aug. 11 at about 8 a.m. Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were called to a serious assault in the 3900 block of Highway 97.

After arriving on scene they found Langley man Jody Archie York, 43, had allegedly beaten another man who was camping with his friends in the area.

The incident is believed to have begun as a verbal argument but became physically aggressive quickly.

Both men were brought to a local hospital for treatment but the victim is still in hospital suffering from a serious injury.

York was quickly released from hospital and on Aug. 13 he was charged with one count of aggravated assault.

York has a long list of past charges including, theft, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon, intimidation and assault.  

He is well-known to RCMP across the province.
