VJH at surgical capacity

Vernon Jubilee Hospital has reached its surgical capacity.

A growing and ageing population in the North Okanagan has increased demand for surgery.

Last year, Vernon Jubilee Hospital surgeons performed 8,047 procedures. With an estimated surrounding population of 80,000 people, that is roughly one in 10 who received surgery at VJH.

The Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation has launched its "Operation: Surgical Care for Life" campaign.

"Right now, we are raising money to help our hospital increase its surgical capacity and serve more people, more quickly," stated Lisa Westermark, executive director of VJHF. "To do this, we will equip an additional operating room, purchase six new state-of-the-art anesthetic machines and a new urology table with real-time imaging."
