Finishing the Rail Trail

Chantelle Deacon

In an effort to finish the Okanagan Rail Trail, Predator Ridge Resort near Vernon has started a campaign fundraiser.

The local golf resort challenges the community to raise some cash and they will match any donations up to $25,000.

"What we want to do is invite the community to raise $25,000 and Predator Ridge is going to match an additional $25,000 so that we can get $50,000 to the Okanagan Rail Trail and finish this thing off," said Carmen Lindsay, recreation director of Predator Ridge.

The fundraising campaign for the Okanagan Rail Trail Initiative is almost complete, reaching 98 per cent of their funding goal.

The beautiful 48.5-kilometre trail is slated to be finished this year.

"We have trails onsite that we invite people to but we also want to shuttle them down to the Rail Trail and experience it first hand," said Lindsay. "We really want to have a full package for people when they come to Predator Ridge and the Okanagan Valley."
