Crash involves school bus

Vernon RCMP responded to a four-vehicle crash that took place just south of Enderby Wednesday afternoon.

The collision which involved a school bus occurred at about 4 p.m. on Highway 97A.

"The school bus had stopped to let the last passenger off for the day, when the collision occurred," said Const. Kelly Brett. "The bus driver was attentive and could see that a collision was about to occur just as the child was about to unload, however, held the child back just prior to the collision occurring."

The child and bus driver did not sustain any injuries.

When police arrived at the scene they found three vehicles and one school bus involved in what appeared to be a chain reaction rear-end collision.

Two other vehicle occupants endured minor injuries and were transported by ambulance and one person was airlifted to the nearest hospital.

Traffic was rerouted for a period of time but the road is now clear.

"The status of the injured party airlifted by BC Ambulance Services is not known at this time," said Brett.
