Ahoy, it's a Pirate Carnival

This year, Carnival took people to Wonderland, but next year it will be heading for the high seas.

At an awards ceremony Tuesday evening, the theme of next year's carnival was announced and chairperson Deb White could barely contain her enthusiasm.

“Next year's theme is going to be Pirates Carnival,” said White. “Carnival in Wonderland was absolutely amazing and it was such a good event and we had to keep the energy high.”
White said the theme lends itself to all sorts of pirate variations.

“We are so excited. There are going to be some Jack Sparrows some Cpt. Hooks some Tinkerbells – it's just going to be fantastic,” said White. “The parade is going to have so many ships, so we are very excited.”

With the carnival entering its 59th year, picking a theme was a challenge.

White said the board of directors had numerous suggestions to go through before selecting the pirate theme.
