SD 22 on centre stage

After months of rehearsals, the students of School District 22 were ready to shine.

The district's Choral Showcase took place on Wednesday at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre.

Nineteen choirs performed throughout the day, singing encouraging songs, such a “Fight Song” and popular songs from movies, such as “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music.

"The highlight of the show was the musical finale," states Maritza Reilly, SD 22 communications coordinator.  "All the choirs gathered on stage to sing “This Song is For the Children,” a song that brings awareness to issues like poverty.

Introduced by one of the students, the boy said: “we sing the song to show our support to our brothers and sisters around the world.”

Students and the public are also invited to attend a Flash Mob at the Village Green Centre on Saturday, March 10 at 12 p.m. in the Food Court.

Those in attendance are asked to bring a new pair of socks that will be donated to the Upper Room Mission.
