Lottery supports children

Chantelle Deacon

A house is up for grabs at Predator Ridge Resort as part of the annual BC Children's Hospital Lottery.

But more important than the home is the cause which it supports.

"Every year 86,000 children are treated in BC Children's Hospital, that is a staggering stat and so many of these children need that expert care."

Castanet spoke with BC Children's Lottery spokesperson, Erin Cebula and she explained why this campaign is so close to her heart.

"I've been very lucky to be a part of the B.C. Children's Hospital Lottery campaigns for I think I'm pushing 10 years now and we've raised close to $50 million now through the lotteries," Cebula said. "If you think about it every dollar that's raised is actually leveraged for five more in research grants and bursaries."

"Every ticket that's purchased actually means more money for the hospital, raising money for research, critical care, equipment of course."

"My little nephew is in BC Children's right now receiving care that he desperately needs and I think so many of us have these stories, somebody we know or our child."

The luxury Predator Ridge home that's part of this year's lottery feature more than just the house itself.

"As soon as you walk in you are blown away," Cebula said. "First of all the views are spectacular and the home itself is just under 3,000 square feet."

The home is newly built and features high ceilings and lots of natural light. The resort is known nationally and internationally because it's many amenities.

"There are 35 kilometres of hiking and biking trails," Cebula said. "There are plans for a dog park, a children's playground. There is yoga, pickleball, tennis."

But the beautiful home at Predator Ridge comes with even more perks.

"We have also included a 2018 Range Rover, a 2018 Porsche Carrera 911, a boat and trailer, as well as $300,000 in cash, plus if you feel like escaping back towards the coast, a condo in White Rock," Cebula added.
