The outpouring of support continues for a Lumby man who died Sunday following a snowmobiling accident.

Travis Squair, the club president of Lumby/Mabel Lake Snowmobile Association, is being remembered as simply "the best of the best."

The Travis Squair Fundraising Auction has been set up online to help his young family.

"We have heard from many people that they want to do something special for the Squair Family," was posted on the Facebook page.

"The loss of our dear friend Travis will leave a huge hole in our hearts, but we hope you can help us do something special in honour of him."

The auction began yesterday and already dozens of items have been donated.

"Hey guys...we are so very appreciative of all the generous donations we have received so far.... we are truly humbled," an organizer posted on the Facebook page. "Today has been an emotional day seeing how much Travis was loved."

Due to the outpouring of support, the group has decided to start a GoFundMe page as well, with the proceeds going to a trust for his daughter.

Vernon RCMP stated in a press release that at the time of his accident, Squair was with friends who tried to save him.

"Sadly, despite the efforts of those performing CPR on the scene, the male succumbed to his injuries," said Const. Kelly Brett. "This tragic event serves as yet another reminder of the risks associated with backcountry sports, regardless of your level of expertise and training".

For anyone interested in donating to the auction, you are asked to contact [email protected] with a picture, details of the item and the value/minimum bid for it.

"Please invite everyone to this page and let's open our hearts.... just like Travis did. He really was the best of the best...."

The auction will run until March 31.
