Pick up your dog's poop

Josh Winquist

Now that the snow is slowly melting, all kinds of treasures are being unearthed.

Unfortunately, it is like tiptoeing through a minefield at the local dog parks.

It seems some dog owners didn't pick up after their pooches and now the mess is almost too much to bear.

"Wow, it's not only pure ice at the dog parks but for some reason when there is snow nobody picks up after their furry kids - the landmines are absolutely terrible!" Was the first post on the Vernon and Area Community Forum, which then started a thread.

"It's disgusting and then my dog eats it, and therefore is also eating any disease or medication the lazy arse owners dog crap they can't be arsed picking up," posted one person on the forums. He went on to call the situation 'Grim.' "There was even crap by the BX entry gate today, the free bags are less than five feet away."

The problem is, it is easy to turn a blind eye to poop when it snowing. Even along sidewalks in town, as the snow melts, piles of pooch-poop pop up.

"Very sad - watched a guy cross the street from his yard to let his dog do his business then went back home - I kindly suggested the bags at elbow reach from him but he just ignored me."

While this is no laughing manner, some managed to find some humour.

"Wouldn't they add traction on the ice though," one person added.

While the originator of the thread posted,"I fell on the ice - thank gawd I missed the mounds."
