Assessment values up

By and large, residential property prices in the North Okanagan have increased, according to the latest numbers from BC Assessment.

Homeowners can expect to get their 2018 assessment letters in the coming days. The notices reflect market value as of July 2, 2017. 

Your property assessment significantly influences the amount of property taxes you pay.

Throughout the Okanagan, residential properties in urban areas will see an increase between five per cent and 25 per cent; while rural properties may see a decrease of five per cent or an increase of as a much as 25 per cent.  

Estimates of average 2017 versus 2018 assessed values of residential homes throughout the North Okanagan:

• Armstrong  –   $326,000     $371,000    +13%
• Enderby  –   $260,000     $302,000    +16%
• Vernon  –   $441,000     $493,000    +11%
• Vernon (Strata)  –   $230,000     $259,000    +12%
• Coldstream  –   $578,000     $664,000    +14%
• Salmon Arm  –   $371,000     $415,000    +11%
• Spallumcheen  –   $372,000     $395,000    +6%
• Sicamous  –   $313,000     $355,000    +13%
• Lumby  –   $278,000     $320,000    +15% 

Of the top-valued residential properties in the Thompson-Okanagan, Kelowna dominated the list. However, a few Coldstream homes cracked the top 100.
