Medians being installed

A section of Highway 97 near Vernon will be getting a little safer after a median barrier is installed.

"Median barriers ensure vehicles stay in their lane and prevent crossing into oncoming traffic,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena. “This project will get underway in the coming weeks, and will be completed by the end of October.”

Approximately 2.5 kilometres of median barrier will be installed along Highway 97 starting south of Stickle Road and continuing to 48th Avenue.

Kon Kast Products Ltd. from Kelowna has been awarded the $346,000 contract.

On average, 23,000 vehicle trips are made every day along this section of the highway.
