Tough fire to fight

UPDATE: 9:25 a.m.

Members of the BX/Swan Lake Fire Department were called to a challenging structure fire Tuesday night.

Crews were called to Baker Hogg Road just after 10 p.m.

“There was a report of heavy smoke coming out of a barn,” said Fire Chief Bill Wacey.

The barn had been converted into a storage facility, making it a difficult fire to fight as there was so much material inside the building.

“We had to tear out walls to get at the walls that were on fire,” said Wacey. “There was a lot of stuff in there. There were definitely hazards we had to deal with.”

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Wacey said it is not deemed suspicious.

“It was pretty gutted on one side of the building,” he said.
