1 more day for Kin case

It's a slow dash to the finish for the court case over the future of Kin Race Track.

Ten days of testimony in a New Westminster courtroom was expected to wrap up the civil trial between the Okanagan Equestrian Society and the City of Vernon. The tenth day was last Friday.

But society president Robyn Dalziel said one more day is needed in B.C. Supreme Court.

Dalziel said the cross examination of the final witness, Barry Beardsell, is expected to continue on Sept. 25.

In order to have less time in court, the judge has agreed to allow lawyers to submit written summations rather than give them orally.

"It's basically over," said Dalziel.

The track is a prime piece of property with a lot of potential, but the site has been mired in legal wrangling for years.
