No arrest in Vernon murder

There has been no arrest made in connection to the death of Willie Bartz in Vernon last month.

But two weeks after his death, RCMP have officially released his name and acknowledged his death was a murder.

“The Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are confirming that the death of a Vernon man reported on July 19, was a homicide,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

“No arrests have been made in connection to Mr. Bartz's death. Police do not believe that the matter poses any threat to the general public.”

Castanet spoke with Bartz's sister and father the day after the murder. Both were stunned anyone would want to hurt the man who was seriously injured in an accident 27 years ago.
