Bocce raises charity funds

There was fun, bocce and money raised for charity at the recent Greater Vernon Open event.

The GVO is Western Canada's largest single day bocce tournament and local duo, Amy Markin and Becky Marshall, won top prize.

The annual event, which was held last Saturday, has been going strong since 2004.

Teams from all over B.C., Alberta, Ontario, Washington state and even Scotland attend regularly.

“€œThe event is so well attended and is so established, that people regularly book their summer holidays to the Okanagan to attend the event,” said Bill Trickey, co-founder.

Most importantly, the tournament has raised thousands of dollars for the Canadian Mental Health Association's Ride Don't Hide campaign.
