A-maze-ing time at O'Keefe

Historic O'Keefe Ranch is inviting people to stop by for an a-maze-ing time.

The cool, wet spring may have delayed things slightly, but the the fourth annual Summertime Corn Maze is ready to explore.

The family friendly maze will be open daily beginning Saturday, and will remain open until about mid-September, when it’s time to harvest the corn.

In the meantime, kids of all ages are invited to find their way through the two-and-a-half acres of twists, turns and corny trivia questions.

The first of three mazes is intended to be a welcoming daytime activity for all ages. Admission starts at $5 for children, with discounts on family passes or with combined admission to the ranch.

The corn maze will also be open during special events including the Family Fun Days July 23 and Aug. 20, and the Night Time Corn Maze and Corn Roast Aug. 5, 12 and 19.

After the ranch closes for the season, a second and third maze will open on weekends in October, and for the annual Halloween Field of Screams event.

“The staff and volunteers work thousands of hours for months on end to make the corn maze happen. It’s become a hugely popular activity for families... I think this is the best year yet, we have learned from previous years what works and what doesn’t. It’s a fantastic event that combines agriculture with arts and culture,” said ranch general manager Glen Taylor.

In 2016, 14,000 visitors walked through the maze.
