Bird causes outage

Update: 8: 50 p.m.

BC Hydro estimates power will be restored to affected areas by 10 p.m.

Several Central Okanagan residents are in the dark thanks to a little bird.

BC Hydro is reporting a power outage to 3000 customers in Lake Country and along Westside road.

Crews have been dispatched to the areas, with an estimated time of arrival about 8:30 p.m.

It appears those living just north of Killiney Beach to north of Trader’s Cove on Westside road are without power -- along with residents of Winfield.

While Castanet viewers report heavy rain and wind in the Lake Country area, BC Hydro claims the outage is due to a bird on the wire.
