Supplement World opening second Kelowna location after huge success of first store

Supplement World expands

The Machart family’s first Supplement World location in Kelowna has created such a positive, energetic vibe that it could no longer be contained in one spot.

So the franchise is opening a second store in the city, this time in Mission Park Shopping Centre next to Urban Fare. The grand opening will take place this Saturday, and the store will celebrate with specials, samples and gift bags all weekend long.

“We opened our first location during COVID in uncertain times, not knowing how long the pandemic was going to go, to doing very well and being well received by the community,” family patriarch Ed Machart says. “We appreciate the community supporting us, welcoming us and growing with us. We saw the need to go south, and that’s what we’re doing.

“We’ve got a big group of ambassadors and staff that support us. We’ve had the pleasure to have a few team workouts and hosted many demos. We have a really great staff. We’ve grown it from just the two-man show into a team.”

The two-man team to which Machart is referring are his two sons, Tyler and Adam. The two former football players know the supplement industry inside and out and have built a strong community at Supplement World’s first Kelowna store, which is located at 1955 Harvey Ave. Adam was set to embark on a CFL career last spring, but he decided a few days before the draft he wanted to grow roots in Kelowna and get down to business.

“The boys obviously have the knowledge, and they live it,” Machart says. “They’re in the gym every day. They use the product. They’re very knowledgeable. Adam is just finishing his kinesiology degree. And then their mom Peggy—my wife—is super knowledgeable on supplements, especially on the women’s side. Tyler has really taken on the role of introducing our organization to the gyms and community.”

Supplement World’s shakes are some of the biggest draws for its clientele. The company’s proprietary mix is put through the store’s soft-serve machine and mixed with protein that creates a snack that is both delicious and nutritious.

“We mix it with a scoop of protein and create a shake, and it’s fabulous,” Machart says. “It’s really put us on the map as far as something unique. We have people that come in every day or sometimes twice a day—one in the morning and one at night.”

No matter what you need in terms of supplementing your health, the Macharts and the rest of the store’s growing staff will always be able to answer your questions. The store doesn’t just sell products, either. Earlier this year they brought in four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler, and he signed autographs for five hours in what was an exciting event for the store.

“We’ve just got this really youthful, positive vibe going on in our store,” Machart says.

In the new location this Saturday, the first 50 customers who spend at least $100 will receive a gift bag, and there will be samples and in-store specials for everyone who comes through the doors.

Machart says big things are in store in 2023 for Supplement World, which now has 13 locations throughout Western Canada.

“Our company founder, Josh MacGowan, is always looking at new and exciting products to bring into our chain,” Machert says.
