Fox Plumbing Heating Cooling Electrical will help two nominated non-profits in 2023

Wrap a Van program is back

The Wrap a Van for a Cause promotion is back, and this year it will be bigger and better than ever.

Fox Plumbing Heating Cooling Electrical, which is based in Vernon but services the entire North Okanagan and Shuswap, is once again calling for the public to nominate their favourite charity or non-profit organization. Last year’s winning group, North Okanagan Community Chaplaincy, had its logo wrapped on a Fox van and received 5% of the revenue it generated during calls in 2022.

Due to supply chain and shipping problems that surfaced in 2022, from finding simple household items to ordering large parts for repairs, Fox Plumbing Heating Cooling Electrical has decided to have North Okanagan Community Chaplaincy’s van run again in 2023.

In addition, it will crown another winner that will be announced in late January. That charity or non-profit organization will also have a Fox van wrapped in its logo next year and will receive 5% of the revenue it generates.

“We have always held a strong pride for our community, and love opportunities to support and give back,” Fox Plumbing Heating Cooling Electrical owner Ted Fox says. “The idea of asking our neighbours to vote on where the money goes feels all the more warm.”

Fox Plumbing Heating Cooling Electrical will also select three runners-up from this year’s competition, and they will each receive a $500 donation. Last year’s three recipients were Vernon Homeless Outreach Team Association, Vernon Search and Rescue, and Starfish Backpack Program.

The nomination window opened on Halloween. A maximum of 32 nominations will be accepted, and then a bracket will be built. Head-to-head voting will commence on Nov. 28 via social media channels to determine winners until there is one left standing on Jan. 13, 2023.

The winner will be notified on Jan. 23, and a public announcement will take place a week later. The newly wrapped van, just as it was last year, will be unveiled at the Vernon Vipers’ Family Day game on Feb. 20, 2023.

The charities and non-profits that enter the contest will all come from the Fox Plumbing Heating Cooling Electrical service area, making sure the money that is raised will stay in the community. It could end up being a completely local organization or an Okanagan chapter of a national or international charity.

So if you have a favourite charity or non-profit that you think could use a big financial and visibility boost, visit www.foxandsons.ca/charitycan to nominate them now.
