Virtual games at Simplex Sportszone great for parties and events

Have a blast at Simplex

It’s the perfect place for a birthday bash, a Christmas party, a corporate event, a golf lesson or a get-together with friends or family.

It’s great for those between the ages of five and 105, and for groups of four to 45.

Simply put, Simplex Sportszone is one of Kelowna’s exciting new ventures that is a meeting place for fun and the casual or serious golfer. It is located at 2600 Enterprise Way, and it features virtual sports like golf, lacrosse, football, baseball, hockey, carnival games, zombie dodgeball, bocce, basketball and soccer. If that doesn’t sound like enough fun already, Simplex Sportszone is also licensed.

The unique enterprise opened in October 2018 but had to wait until February 2019 for its liquor licence due to the previous fall’s municipal election. Then COVID-19 struck a year later. In other words, Simplex Sportszone is finally just getting started, and it can’t wait to welcome the Okanagan to come and have a blast.

There are eight studios in which to play virtual sports games, and they are rented by the hour for up to four people. Customers are not limited to one sport during those 60 minutes, either.

“Some of those people might want to do shooting games,” project manager Helene Lenzing says. “Some of them might want to play soccer. Some of them might want to have a round of golf together and play St. Andrews or Pebble Beach.

“You’re talking about playing very realistic golf courses from all over the world that people are never going to see in their lifetime.”

The studios can also be used for golf lessons. Simplex Sportszone has four Trackman 4 studios, which feature the most advanced high-resolution dual radar technology. It provides detailed statistics about your swing and ball path, and the Tracy artificial intelligence tool that is included will help you take your game to the next level.

“Imagine going to a driving range and you have a golf coach beside you who is telling you how to hit or change your shot,” co-owner Erwin Egert says. “That’s what Tracy AI does.”

The business currently employs two golf professionals who are available to help you with your swing as well.

Simplex Sportszone offers hot and cold snacks, and they allow catered food for people booking for parties and events. That could include having pizza delivered or bringing in your own goodies to enjoy for your special event.

All sports equipment is included in your studio rental, but you are more than welcome to bring your own if you prefer. They also offer rental golf clubs for those who don't own a set. Simplex Sportszone is also inclusive for people of all physical capabilities.
