The Sweet Spot salon on Lakeshore has it all, and it's for everyone

The Sweet Spot Beauty Bar is the result of a pair of dreams coming together at the perfect moment.

Lenny Cabrera had been dreaming about owning her own business since coming to Canada in 2016.

Alicia Jamesan had been dreaming about opening her own salon for the past three years.

Now both of their dreams have come true in the form of The Sweet Spot, which offers every kind of esthetic treatment anyone would want and gets even better with a space that is welcoming to everyone and anyone—including the men.

“We thought: Let’s get this together, and let’s combine our dreams and make a whole bigger dream,” Cabrera says.

The Sweet Spot, which is located in The Shore development across from Gyro Beach, offers high quality personal services like manicures, pedicures, nail extensions, nail art, eyebrow shaping, eyebrow tinting, eyelash extensions, eyelash tinting, body waxing, face waxing, facials and massages.

The business is inspired by European trends adopted in Cabrera's home country of Dominican Republic, where she was a huge success for the past 12 years.

The difference, however, rests in the experience you will have when you visit The Sweet Spot. It will soon be licensed and will feature an actual bar, unlike any other salon in town. That will allow clients to come in and have a relaxing alcoholic or non alcoholic beverages before or while getting their treatments. Delicious snacks, like pastries, muffins and cotton candy, will also be on the menu. The Sweet Spot is both fashionable and comfortable.

“We want to have that sweetness, so we’re going to have a place where our customers can go and unwind in a really fashionable, classy way after work or even if it is a birthday,” Cabrera says.

“Go with your friends and girlfriends and have some pedis, some manicures, and at the same time enjoy a cocktail or enjoy your favourite wine or enjoy a cupcake or any pastry goods.”

The fact there will be a bar at The Sweet Spot means everyone will feel comfortable there.

“If you want to have a mocktail, good for you,” Cabrera says. “If you prefer to have a cocktail or you prefer to have your favourite wine or coffee, we have it all.”

“If a guy is just waiting for his girlfriend to get something done, he can have a beer. We have a big TV where we can show the UFC fights or any other hockey game or sport on at the moment. We have a big space for everyone to really enjoy.”

The salon will be unlike all others, and Cabrera and Jamesan promise that the service will be second to none as well. They have tested their employees themselves to ensure a quality that will keep clients coming back.

The Sweet Spot opened in July, and its hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The Sweet Spot and Castanet have teamed up a contest, where one lucky entrant is going to win a free pedicure. You can enter the contest for free right here.
