No Title For Sun

  • The Okanagan Sun have lost their bid to win the national junior football title.

    They were defeated by the Edmonton Huskies 24-7 Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium, ending the team's perfect 13-0 season.

    The game had been dedicated to running back Jeff Halvorson who died September 1, six games into this year's season.

    The Huskies dominated the game from start to finish.

    Matt Lammerding was named Canadian Bowl Defensive MVP.
  • The Kelowna Rockets beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 2-1 at Prospera Place Saturday night. Rockets defenceman Kyle Cumiskey was injured in the final minutes of the highly physical game. Wheat Kings defenceman Steven Later had the back of his hand cut by a skate in a last minute melee and needed stitches.
  • The BC Lions had a thrilling 40-38 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in their last game of the regular season Saturday. The Lions finish with a 13-5 record.
  • In Ottawa, it was the Hamilton Tiger-Cats beating the Ottawa Renegades 24-19.
