Team Canada settled for silver at this year's World Junior Championship after being shutout by Team USA 2-0 on Tuesday night in Edmonton.
Alex Turcotte opened the scoring 13:25 into the first period for the Americans ending Devon Levi's incredible shutout streak at 148:20. He was less than four minutes shy of the Canadian tournament record.
Trevor Zegras made it 2-0 just 36 seconds into the second frame.
Levi had only surrendered three goals coming into tonight's game but let in two goals on 23 shots in the finale for a .900 save percentage.
He finishes the tourney with six wins, a 0.75 goals-against average, .964 save percentage and 3 shutouts.
Despite Kelowna Rockets defenceman Kaeden Korczak being dressed for the game he didn't see any ice time as Canada played catch-up.
United States, have defeated the Canadians in the four consecutive World Junior finals (2004, 2010, 2017, 2021).
Turcotte's goal in the first period represented the first time that Canada trailed in the tournament and it proved to be the game-changer as it was their only loss during the tournament.
