The draw has been finalized for the 2020 Brier

Cotter learns Brier foes

Jim Cotter's Vernon foursome will share a pool with defending champion Kevin Koe and rinks out of Ontario and Saskatchewan when the 2020 Brier opens up later this month in Kingston, ON.

The draw and two eight-team pools were announced this week as each province and territory declared its representative.

Sixteen teams, including Northern Ontario, defending champion Koe and a wild card team will vie for the Brier championship.

Cotter, making his ninth appearance in the national final, and Koe will be matched up with Northwest Territories (Jamie Koe), Ontario (John Epping, Saskatchewan (Matt Dunstone), New Brunswick (James Grattan), Yukon (Thomas Scofflin) and the winner of the wild card game between Glenn Howard and Mike McEwan.

Teams will play a round robin within their pool, with the top four in each moving on the first playoff round.

Cotter opens up the Brier against the Northwest Territories Saturday, Feb. 29. He'll take on Ontario Sunday morning.

Round robin play wraps up Wednesday, Mar. 4.
