A young West Kelowna athlete has won an international sports honour.
Seventeen-year-old triathlete Brock Hoel of West Kelowna won the 2019 CAMTRI Junior Men’s Triathlon American Championships held in Monterrey, Mexico on Friday.
Hoel’s gold medal winning time for the sprint distance triathlon was 56 minutes, 53 seconds under blistering Mexican heat.
The event included a (750-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike, and five km run.
Hoel was supported at the event by local coach Luke Way of Balance Point Racing.
Hoel is a member of the BPR Mission Group Junior Development Team.
