Owls seek redemption

The KSS Owls will look to bounce back after a one-year dip at the Western Canada Boys Basketball tournament beginning Thursday at KSS.

The Owls, who appeared in the final three straight years, winning it all in 2015 and 2016, finished seventh last year.

After dropping their opening two games, the Owls upended Marion Graham Falcons from Saskatoon 107-91 in their final game.

The Owls, an honourable mention in the latest top 10 poll after being ranked as high as ninth, will face the Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds from Edmonton in their opener Thursday night at 7:30.

The Thunderbirds are led by provincial team teammates Max Petryk and Grayson Youngs.

The tournament kicks off Thursday at 1:45 when the number one ranked Jasper Place Rebels out of Edmonton face Salmon Arm.

Other teams competing include reigning BC champion and number two ranked Burnaby South Rebels, the sixth ranked Oak Bay Bays, Cardston Cougars, rated third in Alberta and the Vincent Massey Trojans, the top ranked team out of Manitoba.

Game happen through Saturday with the final set for 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
