Peewee girls miracle season

The Peewee Female Tier 1 Rockets team had an incredible tournament last weekend in Surrey as they captured the 2019 Wickfest tournament title defeating the host Surrey team 1-0 in the final.

The girls went undefeated outscoring their opponents 27-0 in just five games.

''Oh my gosh the win was pretty huge. Surrey seems to be our biggest competition. We were the team to beat and Surrey was the team we had to make sure we beat," said Lana Mahovlich team manager.

This is the 3rd all girls tournament win for the Rockets who haven't lost a game during this stretch bringing their record to 17-0 with the other victories coming in Kelowna and Richmond.

The Peewee girls currently sit 4th in the 14 team Peewee Tier 3 boys league with an impressive 11-3 record.

says the win on the road has  given the all girls team a big boost of confidence.

''We do well in the league, but you know once they get back and they start playing against the boys again they definitely are riding on a high that's for sure.''

''It's a pretty special group of girls. They all get along and there is never any drama they just love the game," Mahovlich added.

The Tier 1 Rockets get a buy to the provincials at the end of March because they are the only all girls team in the league.

''That will be the big test to see if we can bring home a provincial championship," Mahovlich said.
