Burrows calls it a career

Former Canucks bad boy star, Alex Burrows has announced he is hanging up his skates after 13 seasons in the NHL.

Burrows starred for the Canucks for 12 of those 13 years before being traded to the Ottawa Senators for winger Jonathan Dahlen.

Burrows went undrafted but through hard work and grit he carved out an outstanding career by working his way up in through the Canucks organization from the ECHL to make his NHL debut in 2005-06.

A native of Pincourt, Que., Burrows appeared in 71 games for the Sens last season, scoring six goals and adding eight assists.

Burrow's best year offensively came in 2009-10 when he scored 35 goals and added 32 assists.

He was instrumental in the team's run to the 2011 Stanley Cup Final, scoring nine goals and adding eight assists in 25 playoff contests.
