Former Rocket's NHL deal

Former Kelowna Rocket Gage Quinney is headed to the NHL.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights, currently battling in the Stanley Cup finals against the Washington Capitals, announced the forward's signing to a two-year, entry-level contract with the club.

Quinney, a Las Vegas native, played 182 games in the WHL, including 43 regular season games with the Rockets.

During his time in Kelowna, he amassed 12 goals and 26 assists for 38 points.

Quinney added six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 15 post-season games en route to capturing an Ed Chynoweth Cup with the Rockets in 2015 before scoring four goals and adding an assist in five games to help the Rockets to the Memorial Cup final.

Quinney spent his first season out of junior hockey playing in the ECHL for the Wheeling Nailers.

The 5-foot-11, 201-pound forward notched 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points in 45 games that season and earned a promotion to the AHL. 

During the 2017-2018 regular season, he played for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, the AHL affiliate to the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. In 57 games, he posted 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points.
