No rest for Serwa

You'd think being an Olympic champion would come with some perks, like a little rest.

Not so for Kelowna's Kelsey Serwa, who went from PyeongChang to Russia for the resumption of the World Cup skicross season.

"No rest for the wicked," said Serwa in a brief email to Castanet.

Racers will compete in a pair of World Cup events in Sunny Valley, Russia Saturday and Sunday.

They will wrap up the season in Megeve, France March 17 before the Canadian team returns home for the Canadian championships at Red Mountain in Rossland, March 21 to 24.

Serwa is tied with teammate Brittany Phelan for sixth on the World Cup circuit with 329 points, well behind runaway leader Sandra Naeslund of Sweden.

Prior to her gold medal performance at the Olympics, Serwa had just one podium finish, but seven top 10's on the World Cup circuit.
