National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman has tweeted out to fans that NHL players won't likely be at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Bettman said “people should assume” the NHL is not going to play in the Games for the first time since 1998.
He added: "There are no negotiations ongoing."
International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach met with the NHL and NHL Players Association in New York last month.
Bach said he would leave any negotiations in the hands of the International Ice Hockey Federation, NHL and players association. There have been no further meetings.
The two sides only have a few weeks left to negotiate before a final deadline.
