Two vehicles sent into the ditch last week by slippery sections on Hwy 97A

Cops help ditched vehicles

Sicamous Mounties responded after two vehicles were sent into the ditch by slippery conditions on Highway 97A last week.

On Jan 23 at 1 p.m., police responded to a call north of Swansea Point on Highway 97A.

“Police located two northbound vehicles had lost control in the same location entering the northbound ditch and coming to rest next to the steep rock walls,” said Sgt. Murray McNeil of the Sicamous RCMP.

“A rented Dodge Durango and a Chrysler PT Cruiser had slid into the ditch during winter conditions with some slippery sections present on the highway.”

There were no injuries to the occupants of the vehicles, and highway traffic was able to continue unimpeded as both vehicles were off the roadway.

Police arranged for the vehicles to be towed after 3 p.m. when Highway 1 was re-opened and less traffic would be travelling on Highway 97A.
