Rescue boats help with fire

The Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station will be out at Mara Lake today to assist in combating the Two Mile wildfire.

“Our crews will be out on the lakes at the request of the RCMP on Wednesday to keep the pleasure craft back to create that safety zone the helicopters and skimmers need to do their job effectively, and quickly, as they continue combating the Two Mile Creek fire,” the Station wrote in a Facebook post.

As of Tuesday morning BC Wildfire Service has the Two Mile wildfire listed at 1,000 hectares in size.

BCWS is continuing to assist the Sicamous Fire Department and the Swansea Fire Department on this fire.

There are 32 wildfire personnel, three helicopters and multiple pieces of heavy equipment assigned to this blaze.
