Woman with significant injuries found on driveway near Sicamous

Woman found dying

Police are investigating what they're calling the suspicious death of a woman near Malakwa in the early hours of Friday morning.

Just before 2:30 a.m., police were called to the Cedars RV Resort on Luoma Road, along the Trans-Canada Highway between Sicamous and Malakwa.

A resident in the area had found a woman lying in the middle of a private roadway within the resort complex suffering from “significant injuries.”

The 65-year-old woman was rushed to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

“The investigation into the woman’s death remains in its infancy,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesman for the BC RCMP in the Southeast District, in a press release Friday evening.

“Investigators are considering all possible factors that may have led to the woman's unexpected death, which is being considered as suspicious in nature at this time.”

Police did not say if any arrests had been made at this time, or if they had identified any suspects. Police did not disclose the nature of the woman's injuries.

Sicamous RCMP have asked anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the woman's death to call them at 250-836-2878.
