Salmon Arm RCMP confiscate $4,600 in fake US bills

Counterfeit cash warning

Police in Salmon Arm are warning people about counterfeit money making the rounds.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott West says phoney U.S. $100 bills were passed at stores in Salmon Arm recently.

On Dec.10, police seized $4,600 in counterfeit bills from a residence in the Shuswap community.

The bills all have the serial number LB440087L.

“Police have seized two other bills locally in other investigations, with the same serial number on them,” said West.

“These bills are well known to be fake and have shown up in other provinces in Canada. The serial number on the bill shows up when checked on the internet as being a fake.”

“If you have come into possession of one of these bills, then call your local RCMP to report this so that we may get these bills out of circulation,” said West.
