Landslide risk in Salmon Arm prompts evacuation alert for one house

Landslide risk in Salmon Arm

One house in the Ravenscroft Strata in Salmon Arm has been issued an evacuation alert on Tuesday due to a landslide risk.

Bank erosion and sloped land slippage has caused the landslide risk, which is due to the heavy rainfall over recent weeks. The family home is located at 4425-13 Street NE, and the residents will have to prepared to leave their house on short notice if needed.

A Preliminary Landslide Hazard Assessment report has been obtained from a geotechnical engineering firm which determined the alert was necessary. No other properties in the strata are affected at this time, and the public is urged to stay away from the area.
