Break-in at Salmon Arm dispensary followed by overdose

A theft from a Salmon Arm dispensary on Friday resulted in an overdose a short time later.

Salmon Arm RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott West says officers responded to a break and enter at a dispensary in the downtown area.

The thief did not get what he was looking for, but instead stole other drugs that proved dangerous.

A short time later, police responded to assist paramedics who were responding to a medical emergency involving a male suffering from an overdose.

While assist the ambulance crew, police located what they believed to be bottles stolen from the drug dispensary, along with other items connected to the crime.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

The matter remains under investigation.
